Cream Cheese cutouts

Here is a simple recipe for cutout cookies that is hard to mess up. The dough is very easy to work with and my kids were absolutely THRILLED to decorate them. Here is their handiwork!

Cream cheese cutouts

2 sticks butter or margarine, or a combination
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 c sugar
1 egg yolk
3/4 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 c flour

Cream together the butter and cream cheese. Add sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla. Mix well. Blend in the flour. Separate the dough into two disks and cover with plastic wrap. Chill overnight. Roll out on lightly floured surface and cut into shapes. Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Frost, decorate, and enjoy!

My son decided he needed to bite the point off every cookie he decorated.

What is better than making a mess with frosting and sprinkles???

Happy Valentine's Day!
