Overnight Sticky Buns

You too will be excited about this recipe. I promise. Wow your guests, impress your family. Do almost nothing and get great results. This recipe is perfect for Christmas. The hardest part is flipping the darn things onto a serving platter. You can easily double the recipe in a 9 x 13 pan.

Overnight Sticky Buns

12 frozen dinner rolls (the kind that are not pre-baked, like Rhodes)
1 box of cook and serve butterscotch pudding (3 oz. box)
1/2 to 1 stick butter (if 1 stick scares you, it comes out fine with just 1/2)
2 T. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. brown sugar
nuts and/or raisins, optional

Grease a 9 x 9 pan. Place nuts and or raisins in the bottom of the dish. Put the frozen, or partially thawed rolls on top. (put them upside down so when you flip them...) In a small saucepan combine the pudding mix, butter, milk, cinnamon and brown sugar. Heat everything together until it just comes to a boil and all the butter melts. Pour on top of the rolls. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, tumble down the stairs, turn the oven on 350, put the rolls in the cold oven (take off the plastic wrap!), and set the timer for 30 minutes. (Of course the actual cooking time depends on how long it takes your oven to preheat.) Turn on the coffee pot, then sit on the couch and watch tv while everyone else is sleeping. Stick something sharp into the rolls to see if they are done. CAREFULLY dump them onto a serving platter, preferably over the sink. There is always a little gunk left in the dish. You know where the spoons are. Go at it.

This is a picture of the sticky buns right out of the oven, pre-flipping.

A blurry close up, but you get the point.

I'd be lying if I said everyone loves them... I will say that all the adults love them, and I'm sure most kids would be happy to have this sticky goo on their plate in the morning. Most kids.
